Engineering Her Racy Pleasure [Racy Nights 11] (Siren Publishing Ménage Everlasting) Read online

“I saw it in New York last year.” She’d tried to talk Dennis into going, but he’d refused. Now she understood why. The few times they had gone out on a real date had been disastrous. Dennis preferred stolen moments in empty offices and stairwells. She’d thought getting out of Detroit together would help, but after he’d given her so many lame excuses why he couldn’t go to New York with her she finally began to understand their relationship wasn’t going to exist outside the building in which they worked.

Lee watched her so intently that she almost became uncomfortable. Had he sensed the change in her voice or body language? She didn’t want them to start asking questions, so she changed the subject. “Looks like we saved the wallpaper. Thanks again for your help. But your shirt is still stained.”

“Everyone is used to that,” said Mason, handing her back the phone. “He’s a slob. Our numbers are in there and we have yours. Where do you live?”

“Right now I’m in the apartment above Minnie’s Flower Shop on Riverfront Drive until I find something more permanent.”

“Great. We’re on Birch Lane. That’s not too far away. We’ll pick you up at six.”

“Okay. Thank you. I’m looking forward to it.”

“So are we.” Mason shook her hand again, only this time it was more of a caress, and Harper wondered how she’d get through the rest of the day without her imagination running wild.

“See you later,” said Lee, also taking her hand for a moment. He winked before the two turned and left the break room. Harper sat down at the table again and snagged another donut.

Were all small towns like this? She knew nothing at all about this place other than the few things Maggie had told her. Would her co-workers find it odd if she asked questions her first day about two men who worked on another floor? She hoped not, because she wanted to know a bit more about Lee Parker and Mason Sinclair before six o’clock rolled around.

  Chapter Two

Mason and Lee raced each other up the two flights of stairs, just like they did several times a day. And each time, Mason beat his friend to the top. “I told you to do more cardio at the gym.” Mason’s heart rate had barely gone up, but he did notice that Lee had been closer behind him this time than in past weeks.

“Fuck you. Keep your cardio. I kick your ass in the squat rack and you know it.”

That much was true. Mason couldn’t touch Lee in weight work. The men worked side-by-side in cubicles in the northeast corner of the building on five, and the lab was close to their work stations. They liked it that way, although it did cut down on the privacy at times to talk, and it meant that any extra exercise they got involved taking the stairs.

Once they were seated, Mason pushed his chair into Lee’s cubicle space. “What do you think of Harper? I have a weak spot for blondes with big blue eyes.”

“Maybe you’re finally about to end your ten-year bad-dating streak?”

“It’s not that bad. Is it? Don’t answer that. It is that bad.”

“I have no room to talk.”

  “Your situation is different.”

Lee averted his gaze and Mason didn’t continue down that path. Three years and Lee was still reluctant to talk about his former sub who had left Racy with one of the former Doms at Maddox’s club. They’d been carrying on behind Lee’s and everyone else’s backs for over a year. To say Lee still felt like the biggest chump on the planet was an understatement.

  “Harper is cute,” said Lee.

“Cute? Cute? Kittens are cute. Harper is fucking gorgeous. Did you see that ass?”

“I’m not blind. Of course I saw it. I think we scared her a bit, though.”

“I don’t. I think we intrigued her. Nice touch with the winking.”

“What about you? Humming show tunes? You know girls are suckers for that shit.”

  “Hey, I loved that show.”

“But what happened when she mentioned seeing it in New York? Her entire demeanor changed. What do you suppose that’s about?”

Mason shrugged. “I don’t know. We’ll have to ask her tonight.” He could hardly believe they were having dinner with the blonde beauty. How the hell had they pulled that off? He’d heard that Maggie had snatched a new marketing specialist away from Tray, but no one knew much about her other than she was supposed to be a genius in her field, and had gone to college in Cleveland.

Lee leaned closer and lowered his voice. “Do you think she’s in the lifestyle?”

Mason tilted his head. “Not sure. How much do you want to tell her tonight?”

“Let’s just see how things play out.”

Mason agreed, and then each man went back to his individual work. They were both on the team that was working on perfecting a robotic system to perform routine tests on the wind turbines so a technician didn’t have to go into each one and do them. Each person on the team was responsible for a different aspect of the system to provide a series of check and balances.

Mason loved detail work, so his part of the project involved a painstaking process that he was usually able to totally immerse himself in. Lee had to tap him on the shoulder or bang on his desk most times to get his attention when he was absorbed in his work.

But not this morning. His mind kept wandering to the times he and Lee had topped subs at the same time before. Most notably was Andrea James, who had taken off for Georgia with Brady Cook three years ago, after a heartbreaking and stunning public humiliation in which both Andrea and Brady verbally castrated Lee. But they’d never shared a woman beyond play and occasional dinner dates, like they were doing tonight.

He pushed his chair over to Lee’s cubicle. “I think we should tell her.”

“Huh?” Lee had been surfing online so Mason didn’t feel guilty about disturbing him.

“Tonight. We should tell Harper we’re Doms.”

“Why? The last four or five dates you’ve been on went south as soon as you mentioned the lifestyle. Are you trying to sabotage this one as well?”

It was only dinner. Mason had no reason to feel so damn nervous. And Lee was right about the last five dates he’d had, but those had been different.

“I knew up front they weren’t in it. I told them because it wouldn’t have been right not to.”

“So why would this turn out differently?”

Mason moved closer and lowered his voice. “Because I feel it in her. There’s something different about her. Didn’t you sense it as well? When was the last time a woman responded to us both that way who wasn’t in the lifestyle? Never.”

Lee held up his hands. “Hold on. You’re making a big leap here. Just because she agreed to dinner with two men doesn’t mean she’s a sub, waiting to have someone reveal her inner self to her.”

“But what if she is? What if all she needs is a little push?”

Lee grinned. “I’ve never seen you so unhinged over a woman. What is it about her? Beside her looks, I mean.”

“She’s got a tragic secret, but she wants to move past it. You know how I am. I want to rescue girls like that. I want to swoop in and make their lives perfect.”

Lee shook his head. “You sound like a character in one of those musicals you love so much.”

“Yeah, I know. But didn’t she touch you as well? Even a little?”

Lee’s smile faded and a shadow passed over his face. “Sure she did. But I’m a bit gun shy still. You’re not.”

Mason nodded. “Yeah. I get that. But I still want to tell her.”

“All right. We’ll tell her. But ease it into the conversation, okay? Don’t scare her.”

“Agreed.” Mason pushed his chair back into his own cubicle. Now he was ready to work. It was unfortunate that the last five dates he’d been on had been such disasters, but that didn’t mean this one would be. And Lee would be there to save things if they went south. He had that ability, with his easy humor and the facial expressions that women seemed to go gaga over.

Mason wasn’t jealous of his friend. They each had their
skills. But with so many lukewarm dates in a row the past few years, Mason’s confidence was shit. Maybe dinner tonight would be the magic moment and end the dry streak? He’d rather share a good date with Lee than have another horrible one on his own. He and Lee had been best friends all their lives, and Mason hadn’t thought twice about asking Harper to have dinner with both of them.

He only hoped he didn’t chase another woman away when he told her about the life he lived.

  * * * *

Harper changed her outfit three times between getting home from work and watching for Lee and Mason’s arrival. She finally chose her favorite simple black dress because it showed off her curves. Dennis had hated the dress on her, which was another reason she’d finally chosen it. He’d always said it made her look fat, not curvy. Fuck him. Obviously Lee and Mason didn’t think she was fat.

She pushed thoughts of Dennis Avery out of her head as she chose her favorite fuchsia-and-turquoise jewelry to pair with the dress. No understated silver or gold for her. She loved to mix up bright, interesting colors whenever she could. She might not be bone thin, but that didn’t mean she had to hide behind drab colors, heavy fabrics, or clothes that looked more like tents than dresses. To hell with that.

She’d just finished checking her makeup when the buzzer sounded. She opened the door to find them both wearing dress slacks and different shirts. They’d also donned ties and sport coats, and she caught the combined scents of two expensive colognes. They looked good enough to eat, even without the glasses.

She recognized Lee’s cologne as CK One and thought the lighter scent was perfect on him. Mason wore Polo, which was no surprise to her. The heavier scent was what she’d expect on someone who had more of a serious demeanor.

Lee’s chocolate-colored shirt went well with his eyes, and Mason’s forest-green one enhanced the green of his eyes. These men know how to dress well and how to play to their best features.

Mason’s eyes widened and Lee’s lips parted. “Wow,” said Lee. “You look incredible in that dress.”

She smiled. “Thank you. You both look very nice, too.”

Mason’s grin sent a rush of desire through her body. “I love the boots. Very sexy.”

She’d worn the short ones on purpose because they showed off her legs. Even Dennis hadn’t put down the shape of her legs. They were killer and she knew it. “Do you two only wear your glasses at work?

Lee nodded. “We do lots of up-close detail work, and it’s easier without contacts.”

“I like the glasses on both of you, too.”

Mason grinned, and her pussy grew wet. “Should we put them back on?”

Harper felt the heat rise to her face. “Oh, maybe later.” She shrugged on her coat and grabbed her purse. Mason held out his arm in a sweet, old-fashioned gesture, and she curled her hand around it.

“I hope you’re hungry,” said Lee. “This place is outstanding and Vito Santori serves each of his customers enough food for at least two meals.”

“One thing I know how to do is eat.”

“A woman after my own heart,” said Lee.

Were these two for real? Harper’s entire body tingled with excitement as Lee held open the passenger door of a Lexus. “This is nice. Whose is it?”

Mason slid into the driver’s seat beside her. “Mine.”

Lee crawled into the back seat and leaned forward against the front seats. “I have one, too, but unlike Mason, I don’t flaunt my wealth.”

“Oh fuck you.” Mason glanced at her. “He drives a ten-year-old Ford with a cracked windshield.”

Harper laughed. “Why do you do that? Surely Notus pays its engineers enough money to buy a new car.” She’d asked for the scoop on both men during lunch, and found out they each had a mechanical engineering degree and lived in the same house on Birch Lane. It was part of the Sinclair estate, and Mason’s family was one of the wealthiest in town. But Harper didn’t care about all that. Money didn’t mean shit if you were an asshole.

  “Because it still runs.”

“That sounds like a good reason to me.”

“Oh, you’re siding with him?” Mason pouted, but it was so obviously fake that she laughed again. “Don’t do that. It only encourages him.”

“I can’t help it. I always root for the underdog.”

  “Uh-oh…”

“Yes!” Lee pumped his fist in the air. “I have an ally.”

They arrived at the restaurant and Harper was surprised to see how crowded the parking lot was. “Do they always have this much of a draw during the week?”

“Ever since the tornado,” said Mason. “They were one of the few businesses downtown to escape damage. It was always busy before, but now for close to a year Vito has had more business than he can handle. I heard he’s actually thinking of opening a second location on the other side of town.”

They were seated against a wall of windows, which Harper loved because she could look out over Market Street and watch people shopping or just out walking. She could see up and down the entire street from this vantage point. “How many buildings were damaged in the tornado?”

“Over two thirds on Market and Main Streets alone,” said Mason. Their server arrived, and Mason ordered a bottle of very expensive wine, as well as calamari for an appetizer. “I hope that was all right,” he said, peering at Harper from over his menu. “I didn’t even ask what you like.”

“Oh, it’s great. Thank you.” She closed her menu. “In fact, I’d love it if you both would order for me. There are too many choices. My mouth is watering.” It certainly was, and not only for the food. She’d had fantasies of being with two men at once for most of her adult life. She’d once suggested it to Dennis, just to see what he’d say, and had regretted doing so for the rest of their relationship. To say he’d been disgusted by the idea was an understatement.

They both smiled and exchanged a quick glance that she couldn’t interpret, but she let it go. Their smiles were enough. She pushed away thoughts of the past again as Lee pointed toward the far end of the street. “The damage went all the way to Nan’s Place, but she only lost a week or so of business. Busler’s Department Store suffered minor damage, but then someone set fire to it and really finished it off. It will take longer to rebuild than the rest of the buildings.”

“Wow. You two weren’t kidding when you said Racy has had a lot of drama.”

“Yeah. The same scam that our former mayor was involved in included several cases of arson.”

  “Who is mayor now?”

“Zach Kincaid. He’s a good friend of ours.”

“That’s convenient.” She caught another quick glance pass between them but didn’t have time to ask about it because their server was back with the wine. After they each had a glass and had ordered their dinner, she raised her glass. “To my new job, my new town, and two new friends.”

“I’ll drink to that,” said Lee, clinking his glass against hers and then Mason’s.

“And to possibilities,” said Mason, holding her gaze intently.

She clinked glasses again, and could hardly tear her gaze away from Mason’s eyes. She finally asked if anyone else was in the restaurant that they knew, just to collect her thoughts for a moment.

As each man glanced around, she had a chance to catch her breath and admire their profiles. Both men were gorgeous, but Mason’s features were more defined than Lee’s. Lee had a boyish, fun quality to his features that made Harper unable to stop smiling. Her first day at work had gone well, despite the coffee mishap this morning. And now here she was, at the hot spot in Racy, with the two most handsome men in the room. Maybe karma had finally smiled down on her?

Lee pointed toward two men and a woman seated a few tables away. “That’s Sean Brennan. He’s one of the detectives on the police force here. And with him is Maddox McCree and Julie Carruthers. She’s a psychologist.”

“What does Maddox do?” Maddox had dark hair and intense dark eyes, and Sean had eyes that looked turq
uoise from this distance.

She caught another look pass between Mason and Lee, and then Mason leaned close and held her gaze. “He runs the local BDSM club from his mansion.”

  Oh my…

Harper took a sip of wine. “Have you been there? To his club, I mean?”

“Many times.” His voice was soft and sexy, and it was all she could do to keep breathing. No one knew how deep her BDSM play fantasies went. No one. She’d never even told Dennis the extent of them. All she’d ever been able to do was entice him to give her a few smacks on the ass, but she could tell he wasn’t into it. Were both these men into BDSM? If so, she’d just hit the lottery.

“How about you?” she asked Lee. Might as well find out now. Why play games and dance around the question?

“Also many times. We’re both Doms.”

Oh my, oh my, oh my…

Harper had to take another sip of wine. Their calamari arrived, and she bit into a piece only to collect her thoughts again, but she might as well have shoved cardboard into her mouth. She tasted nothing except her all-consuming lust and curiosity. This was the best day she’d ever had.

“Now it’s your turn to confess,” said Mason, after he’d swallowed his food. She’d confess anything to him right now. “Have you been to one?”

She shook her head. “I’ve never been to a club. I know friends of friends who are in the lifestyle and I’ve been curious most of my adult life.”

Lee narrowed his eyes slightly, which made him look even sexier for some reason. “Why didn’t you ever pursue it?”

She shrugged. “No opportunities. I was advised not to go into a club on my own, and the guys I dated weren’t into it.”

Lee grinned in a way that sent a rush of wetness to her pussy. Good lord. Did he have any idea how fucking sexy that lopsided grin was? “Well then, we’ll have to do something about that.”

  * * * *

Lee’s dick was rock hard by the time their entrees arrived. This woman captivated him for reasons he didn’t understand, but he’d learned long ago not to question emotional reactions. He simply went with them now. It had been three years since Andrea had betrayed him, and he’d hidden away the entire time. He knew that.
